The film won the Filmmakers Award at the 2012 HotDocs Festival. It was nominated for six British Independent Film Awards, shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Documentary and won a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Described by The Guardian with five stars as "This film is as gripping as any white-knuckle thriller: it is one of the year's best." Bart wrote and directed his latest feature film, an indie heist film set in USA called AMERICAN ANIMALS. Bart developed the script at the Sundance Lab. Starring Blake Jenner, Barry Keoghan, Jared Abrahamson, Ann Dowd, Evan Peters and Udo Kier.
