Caroline Harvey is an actor and filmmaker based in Donegal. Her beautiful short film WEDNESDAY’S CHILD won the Oscar qualifying Tiernan McBride Award for Best Short Fiction at Galway Film Fleadh. The film is an adaptation of the book by Shane Dunphy of the same name, and centres around a social care worker on her first day at a new post. The film’s nominations include Best Short Film at the IFTAS, Best Short Film at Irish Film London, Best National Short and Best Actress at the Richard Harris Film Festival where it was also awarded the Judges Special Mention for Best Ensemble Cast. Caroline later made her directorial debut with her short film THE CRUCIBLE which she shot in Donegal, the film premieres at Galway Film Fleadh 2024. The film centres around a woman’s mental health crisis as she tries to combat her difficulties with surfing in the Irish sea. Caroline has subsequently been awarded the first ever bursary by Concern Changemakers & Disappear Here Film Festival Donegal to write and direct a documentary which explores the high rate of burn out in social workers, the film shoots June 2024. This project will valuably serve her aforementioned scripted version as series research. Caroline was part of the writers’ room for TriMoon Films TV development of Siobhan Bunni’s novel ‘Deadly Blind’ under The National Talent Academy’s Script Mentorship Scheme and was selected for the inaugural STORYHOUSE LAB 2024 to receive mentorship in conjunction with the STORYHOUSE SCREENWRITING FESTIVAL, an initiative set up by Element Pictures, Fremantle and Screen Ireland. She was also selected for Screen Producer’s Ireland & National Talent Academy’s EMERGE emerging producer’s development programme 2024.
