Cherish Shirley

Cherish Shirley is a screenwriter and producer whose star is rapidly on the rise. She has two feature films in development with Film4. The first is an ambitious retelling of one of Jane Austen’s much loved classics which will be produced by Brightstar, and the second is a coming-of-age relationship drama, BUTTERFLIES which Clerkenwell Films will produce. On the TV side Cherish is currently lead-writing an adaptation of TAKING UP SPACE: THE BLACK GIRL’S MANIFESTO FOR CHANGE for Sid Gentle. She has developed an original pilot for Caroline Hollick at C4 Drama and has a factual-based drama in development with Sky. She is currently in a first-look deal with Working Title for her original film and TV projects. Cherish co-wrote the penultimate episode of EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT LOVE with Dolly Alderton for Working Title and the BBC and worked as story consultant across the series. She wrote episode four of the upcoming C4 drama series TRUELOVE created by Charlie Covell and Iain Weatherby produced by Clerkenwell. Cherish has further original projects in development with Ray Pictures, Raw and Merman. Prior to screenwriting Cherish worked in scripted development at Big Talk, Sugar Films and Film4. She has a BA in English Language and Literature from Oxford University and a PG Certificate with Distinction in Creative Media Leadership.
