Mike Powell

Mike is a screenwriter from the Isle of Wight working across television and film. He specialises in emotionally intelligent stories with strong genre leanings - psychologically authentic characters, operating within a propulsive story engine. Mike has studied psychology, and brings a fascination with the discipline to his writing. He was selected as one of All3Media and the TV Foundation’s New Writers’ Collective. Mike has developed a wide variety of projects across TV and Film, both originals and rewrites, with the likes of Playground Entertainment, Wild Mercury Productions and Riverstone Pictures.

His short story THE GIFT was performed at The National Theatre, his project JULIUS was a participant and runner up of Film London’s Microwave International scheme, he is a three times finalist of the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship, has been shortlisted for both 4Screenwriting and BBC Studios Writers’ Academy, was a BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew participant and was invited to become an inaugural BAFTA Connect Member. He can also do a no-handed cartwheel.
