Rhys is a writer/actor who grew up in rural Carmarthenshire in South West Wales and trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (BA Acting). Rhys is now based in London.
His debut play BLUE opened in January 2019 at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff, produced by Chippy Lane Productions. The play received four-and five-star reviews from The Guardian, The Arts Desk, A Younger Theatre and Arts Scene Wales.
Following BLUE, Rhys has been working on a feature film BAMBI: THE RECKONING for Jagged Edge Productions & ITN which is set to premiere in January 2025. A studio play, FOSSILS, with director Francesca Goodridge which went into R&D at the Manchester Royal Exchange. And he has recently been commissioned to write a short play for the Heart of Wales Arts Festival in Llandovery.
His latest play, MONUMENT supported by the Peggy Ramsay Foundation is currently Shortlisted for the Papatango Prize 2024.
Rhys was part of the Sherman’s Writers Group 2022, Pentabus’ Young Writers cohort 2023 and the BBC Welsh Voice’s 2024. The project that he was developing as part of BBC Welsh Voices was then selected for further development with NFTS.
Rhys currently has a TV project under option at Wall to Wall.
